Screenvision stepped up to the plate in January with the transmission of President Obama’s inauguration to 27 theatres. While Screenvision had the capability of broadcasting the event to 200 sites, MSNBC opted to limit it to the smaller number. This was the first time such an event was presented live in theatres. Tickets to the event were free.

GDC, the 2nd largest digital cinema server company in the world, announced its 1000th installation this month. In addition, the company announced a deal to install up to 300 DCI compliant theatres with Chinese exhibitor Dadi by 2010. Dadi is the first exhibitor in China to exclusively use digital projectors in all of its multiplexes.
