Is XDC still making digital cinema servers? If Cannes was an indicator, then the answer is “no.” XDC’s press release for Cannes promoted its use of Doremi servers at the event. Presumably, the XDC variety wasn’t up to par. Just to keep us all on our toes, XDC later sent out a press release announcing the demonstration of its server and theatre management system at Cinema Expo.

Cinepolis announced that it has plans to expand, but not in Latin America. The company plans to build 500 screens over the next few years in India. Cinepolis ranks itself as the 5th largest exhibitor in the world, with 222 sites. Carmike, which ranks number 4 in the US by comparison, has 262 sites.
