December 2011 by Michael Karagosian

XDC finalized its deal to acquire the assets of Digital Finance Limited (DFL), allowing it to rollout digital cinema in Ireland. A great new years gift for the exhibitors of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Barco and Christie had a battle of press releases, in which, if one adds in Sony and does the math, divides the world market share of digital cinema projectors as follows:

Barco 34%
Christie 43%
NEC 7%
Sony 16%

Don’t take these figures as gospel, but they gotta be close!
