  • Google announced it will no longer live check certificates with Certificate Authorities, saying that the system is broken. Instead, it will rely on regular browser updates to keep its internal Certificate Revocation List (CRL) fresh. Digital cinema security requires a shift to the use of CRLs, and vendors of mastering software should consider Google’s move. Now, if only those vendors had a list to pull from.
  • Red announced in the Orange County Register that the company was planning to release its 3-D projector, named Red Ray, end of this year. Red says it’ll be 4K, and sold to homes and theatres.
  • HDCP hacked for under $300, throwing Blu-ray security out the window in consumer systems. Hollywood could have done much better. Read more here and here.
