- Wanda received the approvals needed in its quest to buy US exhibitor AMC Entertainment. The deal was approved this month by China’s National Development and Reform Commission, and cleared by the US Committee on Foreign Investment.
- Qube Digital Cinema achieved DCI Compliance for its XP-D stand-alone server. Qube’s stand-alone server was the last from a major manufacturer to achieve compliance. To date, Doremi, Dolby, GDC, and now Qube offer DCI-compliant stand-alone servers. Doremi, Christie, and Sony also offer DCI-compliance IMBs.
- Latin America is getting hot. Cinedigm installed its first TMS in Brazil, for exhibitor Cinesystem, as it moves forward with DGT Cinema to bring VPF-financed systems to independent Latin American exhibitors. Likewise, Arts Alliance Media closed a 200-screen TMS deal with Mexican exhibitor Cinemex, adding to its earlier score late last year of approximately 3000 screens with Mexican giant Cinepolis.
