  • High frame rate pioneer Doug Trumbull will be the keynote speaker at SMPTE’s Symposium on High Frame Rates, to be held October 21 in Hollywood.
  • Dolby’s Cat. No. 745 Integrated Media Block (IMB) passed DCI compliance testing. Kudos go to USL, the developer of the media block, who scored the DCI compliance rating after only two weeks of testing.
  • Peter Jackson’s Hobbit received a boost from fellow director James Cameron at Siggraph. High frame rates was a major topic of discussion at the event. Notably, Mr. Cameron did not disclose the frame rate in which the next Avatar will be produced.
