HDR is Coming, With or Without the Projector
In its relatively short life, digital cinema has seen a few picture formats come along: 2K, 4K, 3D, High Frame Rate. Each of these formats is also available in home entertainment, if not identically, then in similar form. The next big thing in home entertainment will be High Dynamic Range (HDR). Is cinema ready?
A Different Proposal for Immersive Sound Standards
More has been written in the press about immersive sound than in standards committees. Unfortunately, neither has produced useful results. Perhaps its time to be more honest about what is possible, and less dogmatic about how the industry can best embrace this new technology.
